Late recurrence of an osteoarticular infection caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae in a child

Résumé

Klebsiella pneumoniae is an opportunistic pathogen in neonates. A 23-day-old newborn developed septic arthritis of the right hip due to an ESBL-producing strain. A recurrence on the knee was observed at 4 years of age. A molecular investigation confirmed the clonal link of the strains responsible for the two infections and allowed us to identify virulence factors. (C) 2018 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.
