Footeval test, what are the determinants of performance?

Résumé

BACKGROUND: Footeval is new test to assess the potential of football player in reel conditions. Nevertheless the youth of this test do not provide background enough to have a clear idea about what is measuring during this one. The aim of this study was to investigate about the determinants of performance at the Footeval test. METHODS: Thirty-six elite mare adolescent players of a first, division academy participated to this study. All player performed Footeval test and different other physical evaluation to investigate the performance factors. A multiple linear regression models (stepwise backward elimination procedure) was used whit following parameter: VO(2)max, maximun heart rate (HRmax), running economy with ball (ECnorm), maximum lactate (LaMax), Squat Jump (SJ), counter movment Jump (CMJ), plyometric quality (CMJ-SJ), sprint capacity (Sp), sprint with ball (SpB), technical index (Tech). RESULTS: Finally, 4 parameters impact the last stage reached in Footeval. The Aerobics' ability represents 33% (VO(2)max) and running economy with ball (ECnorm) 27%. Plyometric quality (CMJ-SJ) of player play a role for 21% and technical index (Tech) 9%. CONCLUSIONS: Regarding those finding, performance at Footeval test came from physiological capability as VO(2)max, but also from muscular quality with plyometric and technical consideration with running economy and technical index.
