Effect of thermal inertia (time lag and decrement factor) on the insulation thermal capacity

Résumé

In this study, global thermal capacity of glass wool wall by using flowmeter method has been investigated experimentally. For this purpose, guarded hot box has been used to provide heat transfer through the sample. Two flowmeters have been fixed one the surfaces of the wall (one fixed on the hot side and other fixed on the cold side). Thermal capacity has been obtained after the steady state is reached to the equilibrium by integral the area between the heat flow curve and cold flow curve. The study showed the effect of time lag and decrement factor on the thermal capacity. The results of present study are useful to evaluate thermal inertia properties of glass wool during transfer heat wave through building envelop.
