Anamorphoses des réceptions critiques d’Annie Ernaux
Résumé
In a political science thesis on the conditions of production of the French woman writer Annie Ernaux's autosociobiographical work, on the one hand, and on the other hand, on the social diversity of the social and political receptions and uses of her books, I sought to approach the social processes of formation of the 'value' of symbolic goods, in this case literary goods, but also the reasons for the fluctuation of this value over time, in particular by apprehending the social determinants of their plural readings. In a resolutely multidisciplinary perspective, the thesis aimed to go beyond the false oppositions, however traditional (internal versus external analysis of works), in order to grasp the indissociability of the process of literary communication, by bringing together the three elements that are usually separated in research, i.e., the author, the text, and the readers. In an attempt to understand the various positions taken by the Annie Ernaux and her readers, the work was carried out in successive strata, both upstream and downstream of the literary activity, with a view to analysing in particular the modalities and logics of the differentiated receptions of Annie Ernaux's narratives in their various social spaces of circulation, according to the dispositions of the agents who appropriate them.
This article is more specifically interested in those who, situated in the greatest proximity to the literary field - of which they themselves can sometimes be a part when they are also writers - make a profession of reception : the literary critics.
Dans le cadre d’une thèse de science politique portant, d’une part, sur les conditions de production de l’œuvre autosociobiographique d’Annie Ernaux, d’autre part, sur la diversité sociale de ses réceptions et de ses usages sociaux et politiques, on a cherché à approcher les processus sociaux de formation de la “valeur” des biens symboliques, littéraires en l’espèce, mais aussi les ressorts de la fluctuation au cours du temps de cette dernière, en appréhendant notamment les déterminants sociaux de leurs lectures plurielles. Dans une perspective résolument pluridisciplinaire, la thèse se proposait de tenter de dépasser les fausses oppositions pourtant traditionnelles (analyse interne versus analyse externe des œuvres), pour saisir au contraire l’indissociabilité du procès de communication littéraire, en rassemblant les trois éléments que d’ordinaire on sépare dans les recherches, i.e., l’auteur-e ou le-a producteur-rice, le texte ou le message, les lecteur-rices ou les récepteur-rices. Pour tenter de comprendre les diverses prises de position de l’écrivaine et de ses lecteur-rices, le travail a été effectué par strates successives, à la fois en amont et en aval de l’activité littéraire, en vue d’analyser en particulier les modalités et les logiques des réceptions différenciées des récits d’Annie Ernaux dans leurs différents espaces sociaux de circulation, en fonction des dispositions des agents qui se les approprient.
Cet article s’intéresse plus spécifiquement ici à celles et ceux qui, situé-es dans le plus grand rapport de proximité au champ littéraire - dont elles/ils peuvent d’ailleurs parfois faire eux-elles-mêmes partie lorsqu’elles/ils sont aussi écrivain-es -, font de réception profession, les critiques littéraires.
