Impact of Moisture Buffering Capacity of Interior Objects on Hygrothermal Performance and Perception of Indoor Air Quality in a Room

Résumé

A hygrothermal building model taking into account the building envelope, indoor heat and moisture sources/sinks, indoor environment and moisture buffering capacity of interior objects is presented in this article. This model is implemented in the environment SPARK (Simulation Problem Analysis and Research Kernel) which is suited to complex problems using finite difference technique with an implicit scheme. The model is used to study the impact of the moisture buffer capacity of the interior elements on the prediction of the hygrothermal comfort and the perception of indoor air quality in the building. The results suggest that neglecting moisture buffering capacity of interior objects increases the predicted percentage of dissatisfied indices and reduces the acceptability of indoor air quality during the occupied period. \textcopyright 2018 15th Conference of the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate, INDOOR AIR 2018.
