At the beginning of the 1911 revolution, the attitude of foreign powers was empirical. Distanced from their hierarchy, the diplomats had to take the initiative. What if the attitude of the French consul Réau had contributed to the success of the Wuchang Uprising ? This case study can put in question once again the relationship between local history and global history.
Lorsqu’éclate la révolution de 1911, l’attitude des puissances étrangères se met en place de façon empirique. Coupés de leur hiérarchie, ce sont les diplomates en poste qui doivent prendre l’initiative. Et si l’attitude du consul français Réau avait permis le succès du soulèvement du Double Dix ? Par cette étude de cas, l’articulation entre histoire locale et histoire globale peut être de nouveau posée.
