Résumé

This paper analyzes how we talk politics in high schools civic education class. Beyond formal curriculum and the measure of the ``effets,'' the ethnographic enquiry shows how concretely political socialization is shaped by the cognitive and practical features of school framework. The empirical effects of the neutrality principle limits the familiarization with politics and favors the de-conflictualization of the interactions. Moreover, the complex conversion of school expectations into political expectations tends to confirm the statutory incompetency expressed by pupils in this class. Eventually, this survey shows how paradoxically school can contribute to maintain the gap between young people and politics through a teaching officially aimed at preparing them to exercize their citizenship; thus, from the example of school, it highlighs more generally how political socialization is realised within practical and symbolic differentiated spaces. \textcopyright Presses de Sciences Po.
